Working Group Meeting on the Animal Identification and Registration System and Presentation of New IT Solutions
On June 13, 2025, the regular meeting of the Animal Identification and Registration (AIR) System Working Group was held at the office of the Center for Agribusiness and Rural Development (CARD) Foundation. The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia, Ms. Tatevik Sargsyan.
Participants included Mr. Vahe Sargsyan, Programme Coordinator of the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), Mr. Gagik Sardaryan, Director of CARD Foundation, Mr. Garnik Hovhannisyan, Director of the “Center for Agricultural Services” SNCO of the RA Ministry of Economy, Mr. Arman Asatryan, Head of the Veterinary Department of the Food Safety Inspection Body (FSIB) of Armenia, as well as other representatives from the RA Ministry of Economy, FSIB, and CARD Foundation.
Building on multiple discussions held within the AIR Working Group, as well as expert consultation provided by international specialists from Agrarmarkt Austria, the Ministry of Economy of Armenia has taken steps to introduce Information Technology (IT) solutions into the AIR system. These tools have been developed and implemented by the Ministry with financial support from the Austrian Development Agency and through the “Establishment of a functional AIR System in Armenia” project, implemented by CARD Foundation.
The newly introduced IT solutions aim to enhance the sustainability, efficiency, and data quality of the AIR system. They significantly improve the processes of data collection, entry into the electronic system, processing, and analysis, while also ensuring data traceability and transparency throughout the food chain.
The main IT solutions introduced are:
1. “ANI PASS” AIR Mobile Application
This application is designed for veterinarians, farmers, and consumers. It allows for entry, viewing, and editing of AIR data and vaccination records, as well as the creation of veterinary forms. The application includes a QR code scanning function applicable to ear tags and meat packaging. This tool significantly increases the accessibility of the system and supports traceability along the food chain.
2. AIR Monitoring System
The new system includes:
• Administrative control using computerized analysis to detect data errors
• On-the-spot controls are conducted annually based on a sampling approach
• Automated data-driven analytical reports
3. Interactive Analytical Dashboard
This tool allows real-time visualization of the AIR system data in the form of graphs and tables, accessible via computer or large display screens. It facilitates visual analysis and timely decision-making.
All IT solutions are fully integrated with the central “ANI PASS” AIR system and function in alignment with it, ensuring a coherent and systematic implementation of AIR processes.
