In the frames of the “Holding and Animal Identification and Registration” (HAI&R) project, financed by ADA, a working group has been established to develop the AIR program for the nationwide application. The group consists of representatives of different agencies, including the Ministry of Economy, State Food Safety Inspection Body, Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Armenian National Agrarian University, Veterinary, and Animal Breeding Associations, as well as CARD Foundation.
From now on animals in Armenia will have access to SMART farming conditions, ensuring animal welfare and health, enabling the farmers to produce more efficiently, safely and profitably. The first Smart Farm in Armenia was established in the town of Stepanavan, Lori Region, through the support from the Austrian Development Agency. It will serve as a good example for the other farmers to follow and gradually transfer to the innovative solutions in the agricultural sector.
Beginning of the year was marked by two important initiatives, the closure of the “Animal Health Management in Armenia and Georgia, Phase II” (AHM II) project on one hand, and the launch of the “Holding and Animal Identification and Registration (HAI&R) in Armenia: Preparation Project”, on the other. Both projects were made possible due to generous support and financing from the Austrian Development Agency.
